Contemplation Defination And Meaning.
The term contemplation comes from the Latin word contemplatio, which is derived from the Latin word templum, which refers to a plot of land set apart for the taking of auspices or a place of worship. The latter originates from the Proto-Indo-European root *tem- (“to cut”), alluding to a cleared (measured) area in front of an altar, or from the word *temp- (“to stretch, string”), referring to a “place reserved or carved out.” The Greek term (thera) was translated using the Latin word contemplatio.
