Melek Taus Angel
Melek Taûs (Kurdish:, romanized as Malak-Tws), sometimes spelled Malak Tws and Tawûsê Melek, is a key character in the Yazidi religion. He is also known as Peacock Angel. According to Yazidi creation tales, God created the world and handed it to seven Holy Beings, frequently referred to as the Seven Angels or heft sirr (“the Seven Mysteries”), the most prominent of whom is Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock angel . Tawûsê Melek, like many other facets of the secretive Yazidi faith, is open to numerous and ambiguous interpretations.
